- Remember that thoughts of suicide are just thoughts; you don’t have to act on them. These thoughts may last only a few minutes, and in a few hours, you may feel completely different.
- Postpone your decision to end your life and take the time to get the help you need.
- Remove anything from your home that you could use to harm yourself impulsively (ropes, medications, weapons, etc.).
- Save the contact details of people who can help you on your phone so that you can reach them quickly.
- Avoid being alone until your thoughts of suicide subside. Perhaps go to a park or café where there are more people.
- Avoid using psychoactive substances. They can intensify your feelings and increase the risk of making impulsive decisions.
- Use your safety plan or safety box. See below for instructions on how to create them.
If there is an obvious threat to your health or life (you have attempted or are planning to attempt suicide), call 112 immediately and ask for help, or go to the nearest hospital emergency department.
